Get back into Perko.

Why can’t I add a child?

Parent verification is not available in this pre-release build yet. Perko must finish connecting its parental-consent process before child setup can open. Email verification only confirms your email address.

Reinstalling, resetting a password or creating another account will not unlock child setup. Existing export and deletion controls remain available.

Which sign-in should we use?

Parent: use your email and password. Child: choose child sign-in and use the family code plus that child’s four-digit PIN.

They are different sign-ins. Do not use the parent’s password as a child PIN, or share an adult login with another guardian.

We lost the family code.
  1. The parent who created the family signs in.
  2. Open Settings → Family & privacy → Replace family code.
  3. Read the warning and confirm with the parent account password.
  4. Save the new code before closing it. Each child signs in with that code and their existing PIN.

This signs out all children in the family. The old code stops working. Child profiles, PINs, tasks and earned progress stay the same. An invited guardian cannot replace the organizer’s code.

If the response is lost and no code appears, it may already have changed. Reconnect, replace it again deliberately and save the new code. If app blocking is active, use Settings → App blocking → Parent recovery on each child device when needed.

A child forgot their PIN.

The owning parent opens Settings → Family & privacy, edits the child’s profile, and sets a new PIN. Use a different PIN for each child.

That child’s existing sessions are signed out; their profile and progress remain. Their next sign-in uses the current family code and the new PIN. Editing only the nickname or age band leaves the PIN unchanged.

If the save response is lost, the PIN may already have changed. Try the new PIN when connected. If it does not work, return to the profile editor and deliberately set a new one. Do not delete the profile to repair sign-in; parent app-blocking recovery remains available.

It says the session was signed out.

Sign in again using the correct parent or child option. For a child, confirm that the family code or PIN has not recently changed.

Do not delete or recreate the child’s profile to fix sign-in. That can remove progress. If it still fails, note the exact message and contact support without sending the code or PIN.

The app stays on a connection screen.

Check your connection, then use the retry option shown in the app. If it stays on the same screen, send support the app name—Perko or Perko Test—and the message you see.

A private test build may depend on a test service being available. Opening the other app does not repair its connection. Do not reinstall, disable security checks or create another family just to get past this screen.

One task. A clear time. An agreed reward.

How do I send a quick task?
  1. On the parent’s Today screen, tap Quick task · time + reward. You can also use Settings → Together → Quick task.
  2. Choose the child and a task. Add a short note or optional reference photo.
  3. Set the start and finish time, choose the reward, review the offer and tap Send task.

For example: “Take the bins out after school, before soccer.” The child reviews and agrees before submitting work. Quick Task is shown only when you have the required access to create and review that child’s work.

I tapped Send, but the result wasn’t confirmed.

Keep the task open. It may already have saved. Reconnect and use Retry this same task to retry the original request without starting another task.

If you leave, choose Check goals and look in Together first. Leaving clears the temporary draft, not a task that already saved. If the task’s time has passed, its reward guardian can review the saved offer and set a new time.

My child isn’t sure their work was sent.

Use Check task status when the app cannot confirm a submission. This checks the saved status without sending the work again.

Submitted means it is waiting for guardian review. If the current task still offers Send my step for review, the child can choose to send it. Do not create a second task or assume the reward is earned.

What if the time runs out?

Sent on time? It stays available for review after the deadline. Submission is not approval.

Not sent on time? The offer expires. Its reward guardian can reopen it with a new time for the child to agree to. An open offer can be extended, not shortened; its time cannot change while review is pending.

Previously approved progress and earned rewards are not taken away by this deadline.

Does a photo prove the task is done?

No. Your reference photo shows what you mean; the child’s optional completion photo helps you review the work. Neither verifies completion or guarantees that an image is unedited.

Use photos of the task, not people, addresses or private school documents. Check the work before approving it. A timer finishing also does not approve the task.

Agreed reward

Choose the family movie.

A guardian reviews the work and arranges the reward.

One direction, separate assignments, an optional routine. This is a guide—not a saved plan or a prediction of grades.
How do I add tasks to a bigger goal?
  1. Pick the direction. Choose the child and a template, such as getting back on track in math.
  2. Add specific steps. Tap a suggestion or use Paste names. Keep “Algebra take-home test” and “Today’s math homework” as separate steps.
  3. Agree on the reward. Select Review plan, check the steps and choose Reward options before creating the plan.

Use Guide in the plan builder for a quick reminder. Completing tasks shows effort; it does not calculate or guarantee a grade or GPA.

What should repeat, and what should happen once?

Blue: small steps. Specific work to finish, such as a named late assignment. Give each step its own work date.

Teal: recurring check-in. An optional habit, such as checking today’s homework. Choose the days it repeats.

In a plan, recurring check-ins support the routine; they are not extra reward requirements. Keep named assignments separate so everyone can see what is left.

What is the difference between done, approved and earned?
Submitted
The child sent the work for review.
Approved
An authorized adult accepted the work.
Earned
The agreed reward requirements are met.
Delivered
The responsible guardian has provided the reward and recorded it.

A timer ending or an optional photo does not prove completion or automatically approve the work. Perko does not purchase or deliver rewards.

Coordinate with guardians.

Can a stepparent or grandparent help?

Use Together in Settings for families you are authorized to help. Each adult uses their own account and an explicit invitation; permissions specify which children they can help.

Joining does not automatically reveal every private goal or allow every adult to approve work. Check the permissions for the child and goal.

Who is responsible for a shared reward?

Check the goal’s named sponsor. That guardian is responsible for the agreed reward, not every adult in the family. A change of sponsor needs an explicit handoff; it is not automatic when someone leaves.

A reward can be a no-cost experience, such as movie night or time with friends. Guardians arrange any purchase themselves. Perko does not sell gift cards, reward points or reward-funding balances.

Understand Perko Plus.

How do I buy or restore a family plan?

Where subscriptions are available, the family organizer opens Settings → Perko Plus. Restore using the original Perko account and Apple Account. Invited guardians do not need a separate subscription for the same Perko family.

The App Store shows the actual price before purchase. No payment is taken on this website. A Perko subscription does not fund the child’s reward.

Apple is waiting for approval, or Perko cannot confirm payment.

Do not buy again to resolve a pending purchase. Wait for Apple’s approval, then use Refresh status. If already charged, try Restore purchases with the original accounts.

If Perko cannot verify the plan while offline or during a service interruption, existing progress stays safe. New paid features unlock only after confirmation. Contact support if the status remains unclear.

What happens if I cancel or Plus expires?

Manage renewal or cancellation in Apple subscription settings. Deleting the app or your Perko account does not cancel Apple billing.

When Plus ends, existing tasks, reviews, progress, earned rewards, export and deletion remain available. Free limits apply when adding more child profiles or active reward goals.

Focus, with the phone away.

Can we use a custom timer and put the phone down?

Open a task’s focus timer. Choose a preset or Custom time, then start when ready. Phone parking is optional: agree on an out-of-reach place, such as a nearby shelf.

Perko does not measure phone distance or prove attention. Pausing or ending a timer does not remove approved progress. Finishing the timer does not submit the task.

Why did I not hear an alert?

A countdown and a completion sound are separate. Where supported, enable the optional completion alert and check the confirmation shown in the timer. If it is not confirmed, use a separate clock rather than relying on a sound.

For task and reward notifications, check Perko’s notification settings and iOS Settings → Notifications → Perko. Turning on notifications alone does not confirm a timer alarm.

Keep family information private.

How do I export or correct our information?

The owning parent can manage child details and export family data in Settings → Family & privacy. Together goals have a separate Save a private goal copy action for authorized viewers.

Exports can contain private activity and photos. Save them somewhere private; a cloud folder may upload the copy. Deleting information in Perko does not delete copies you already saved.

For other access, correction or privacy requests, email privacy@perkoapp.com. Do not attach a family archive or child photos to an ordinary support email.

How do I delete an account?

Open Settings → Privacy & support → Delete account. Deleting the organizer’s account removes the owned family and its child data. An invited guardian’s deletion does not delete another organizer’s family, but can affect goals they own or sponsor.

Coordinate any needed handoff and read the account deletion instructions before confirming. Cancellation of Apple billing is separate.

How is deleting one child different?

The owning parent opens Settings → Family & privacy → Delete this child. Read the warning and confirm with the current parent password. Turn off app blocking on every device used by that child first.

This removes the child’s profile and individual tasks, points and rewards. Private photos are queued for removal, with retries if storage is unavailable. Shared-goal history may remain for other participants. It is not a full family deletion or a promise that every mention of the child has been erased. Contact privacy@perkoapp.com for other requests.

If the deletion response is lost, refresh when connected before trying again—the profile may already be gone. Do not create a replacement profile just to check. Export any records you need before deleting; deletion cannot be undone.

Still need a hand?

Tell us the app name, version, device model, exact error message and the last step you tried.

Leave out passwords, family codes, PINs, child names, task photos and private school documents. Crop or cover private details in any screenshot before sending it.

Pre-release guide: some controls require an updated test build. Public launch is still being verified. No real-child onboarding is available until the required privacy checks are complete.
